Playing with ink, whiteout and an old toothbrush

I just wanted to let loose and draw.
I once saw Jim Mahfood (introduced to me by Yochie Bee) ink with a toothbrush and I was like, "Hey, I could try that. Toothbrush does have the word 'brush' in it."

And since I had no ideas what I wanted to draw and have started a habit of falling back on drawing Hellboy and Batman, I did these:

With India ink, brushes, whiteout pens and an old toothbrush. This was fun :)

End of Animation Sem. #1

Here is some of the last stuff I did at the end of Semester 1 of Animation.

Zombie Jack the Ripper

From Character Design class.

His story:
It was the late 1880's, Jack the Ripper was out one night on another hunt only to randomly run into a stranger who had just realized who he was. A fight ensued and the stranger attacked Jack the Ripper with his own meat cleaver with the most fatal attacks being a deep stab into his body and devastating slash that nearly chopped off his left arm.

However, Jack the Ripper still managed to escape his attacker and, still clinging to life, made it to a friend who was a Voodoo practitioner. The friend lay the zombie curse on Jack the Ripper but the thing is, when the curse was laid upon him, Jack the Ripper was not dead yet, he was still alive. Since has wasn't dead, but still barely alive, Jack the Ripper still became a zombie but he isn't mindless. He is fully aware of who he is, what he is, and what is going on around him.

It's years later and he has survived by traveling around in the sewers and going back to his home for fresh flesh thanks to the stock of body parts from his old victims. But what if he runs out of his supply? Well, he can always go out at night and do some "shopping".

This is one of my most favourite things that I made this semester. Thanks to the fellow classmates who helped shape this idea. Before it wasn't Jack the Ripper, the idea used to be Jack the Ripper's attacker.

Steampunk Superhero
Also from Character Design class.

This is a character I want to flesh out more. I like the idea but I barely have a background story for her and I still have to figure out how her steampunk superhero powers work. I know that's why her design is so weak right now.

Drawn with soft coloured conte on black pastel paper.
Just something I wanted to draw in my free time.

50 more hands

The last assignment I did for the semester. I think I'm getting better at the drawing hands thing.
If you look closely the hands animate :D

Arm Study

I'm studying the arm. Still not sure I memorize it yet but I'll find out when I take the skeleton test next week.

It was supposed to be the rotation of the arm but I just realized when I finished that there were two views of the back of the arm. So I compensated by doing the elbow from the front.

Alien Head - complete

Coloured.

I like how it turned out but, still, I wonder how it would look in a different colour...

Anatomy Learning

Here's the work I've produced from the figure drawing class. As you can see, I suck but I am working on sucking less.

Week 8:

Week 6:

Week 5:

Week 4:

Week 2:

Busting out heads

Alien head designed for Character Design class. The Salarians from Mass Effect were kept in mind while making him and he turned out looking like an alien from Ben 10. Go figure.

To be painted soon...

I redesigned this monster dude I created from a while ago for Character Design class.

Need to fix the teeth, bake and paint.

Robot head later...I want to re-sculpt it.

Learning the Fundamentals

During January 2010 - August 2010 I've been in Seneca College taking Art Fundamentals. I've learned a bit of stuff but I admit I mostly needed it for a much needed push to get my art on. This is what I made.
